Position: The Landscape Architecture Department seeks a committed, current and visionary colleague to join our faculty as a 9-month, temporary Senior Instructor of Landscape Architecture, beginning January 12, 2009. The position may be renewable for up to two years and is subject to annual review and funding availability. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications: Required: A professional degree in landscape architecture and a terminal degree in landscape architecture or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 10 years. Excellent design skills, the ability to successfully lead and mentor in the design studio and teach in at least two of the following: site design and planning, design communication (including digital), design theory and construction technology.

Preferred: University level teaching experience, three or more years of professional experience and professional registration in landscape architecture.

Responsibilities: The successful applicant will teach in the undergraduate design studio and in supporting theory and technical courses and support the engagement and professional missions of the department. Opportunity will be available to participate in the department's MSLA Graduate Program, the new University of Idaho "Building Sustainable Communities Initiative" and the Landscape Architecture Department's study abroad program in Italy.

The Department of Landscape Architecture: The Department of Landscape Architecture, with four full-time and two part-time faculty, is one of four departments in the College of Art and Architecture. The four-year fully accredited BLA program and a MSLA joint degree program with Washington State University draw upon the rich natural and cultural resources of the Northern Rocky Mountain West for teaching, community engagement and scholarly activity.
