Assistant/Associate Professor - Tenure Track Faculty Position - Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning

Responsibilities: The Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning (LAEP) invites candidates at the Assistant/Associate Professor level for a nine-month, tenure-track faculty appointment. The successful candidate will offer the combination of a solid understanding of traditional and innovative landscape architectural skills, along with a clear potential to succeed in an academic environment where expectations include teaching, research, publications in scholarly journals, and participation in creative activities and public service. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate potential for research, publications, and creative scholarship, along with teaching, in one or more of the following areas: • environmental planning at various scales • sustainable community design • landscape ecology • digital design communication

Ranked among the top 15 landscape architecture programs nationally, LAEP was founded in 1939, and has over 1100 alumni practicing in 44 states and 15 countries. Over 190 students enroll in the accredited BLA and MLA programs. LAEP supports landscape planning research addressing issues of community development, sustainable growth and open space conservation. The department houses the Swaner Greenspace Institute, and jointly offers an MS in Bioregional Planning with the Department of Environment and Society in the College of Natural Resources. LAEP is part of the interdisciplinary Caine School of the Arts, within the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) and enjoys strong working relationships with other colleges such as Natural Resources and Agriculture.

Established in 1888, Utah State University is the state's land grant university, and is nationally and internationally recognized for its intellectual and technological leadership in land, water, space, and life enhancement. USU has over 850 faculty who partner with more than 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The university resides in Logan, a city of over 50,000 with world-class recreational opportunities. Situated in the beautiful Cache Valley and the Bear River watershed, Logan is approximately 90 miles north of Salt Lake City along the western slopes of the Wasatch Mountain range.

Qualifications: The required terminal degree may be either a master's or a Ph.D., in landscape architecture or related field. Applicants with at least one degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program are preferred. Special consideration is given to applicants who are licensed and/or have professional practice experience.
