Standing Faculty Position in the History and Theory of Landscape Architecture

The Department of Landscape Architecture is conducting a search for a new standing faculty member to offer graduate-level instruction in the history and theory of landscape architecture. This is a full-time appointment with responsibilities for teaching, research and administration. The specific rank (assistant, associate or full professor, with or without tenure) of the successful candidate will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to teach specialized courses in history and theory as well as design studio. Minimum qualifications are a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or a Master of Architecture from an accredited program; and demonstrable specialization in the history and theory of landscape architecture; a PhD in a related area of specialization is desirable. A high level of research and scholarly production will be required in addition to teaching. Candidates should be able to demonstrate scholarly experience in the field of history and theory and indicate strong promise of making significant contributions to the advancement of landscape architecture.

The position will begin on July 1, 2009 and the selected candidate will be expected to begin teaching in fall 2009.
