DEPARTMENT OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE/REGIONAL AND COMMUNITY PLANNING College of Architecture, Planning & Design Kansas State University Manhattan, KS Faculty Position Announcement for a Landscape Architecture Design Faculty Member Rank: Assistant/Associate Professor Position to begin August 2008. This position will remain open until filled. The Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at Kansas State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a position in the Landscape Architecture Program. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position. Continuance of the candidate's contract will be reviewed on an academic yearly basis.

The Department Located in a multi-discipline college of design in a land grant institution, we value collaboration with others, service to our professions and communities, and stewardship of the natural environment. The Department's MRCP and two MLA programs are recognized for their strong preparation of students for professional practice. We are assembling a new generation of faculty to lead our Department, building upon our 45-year history. This is an exciting time of change as we make the transition to offering an eleven semester non-baccalaureate MLA degree, as well as a seven semester post-baccalaureate MLA degree. Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach design at one or more academic levels and scales (such as fundamental spatial design in the freshman year, site design in intermediate studios and/or independent master's projects and theses).

The successful candidate also will have the ability to teach in one or more areas including professional practice, history and design graphics.

Faculty duties include: ● Commitment to creative, effective teaching in the Department core curricula at the undergraduate and graduate levels. ● Supervision of independent graduate research. ● Development of significant research and scholarly activities supportive of departmental goals and objectives. ● Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. ● Collegial participation in departmental governance.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Master of Landscape Architecture degree or a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree with a terminal degree in a closely allied profession and be qualified for membership on the KSU Graduate Faculty (http://www.k-state.edu/grad/handbook/chap5.htm#a). Demonstrated commitment to teaching, scholarship and creative practice is essential.
Preferred qualifications include the Ph.D., professional experience, professional licensure/certification and leadership potential. Individuals of exceptional professional and/or academic distinction may be considered without the cited credentials. Applicants must demonstrate strong design abilities and creative application of multiple forms of digital visualization and communication.
